London, 12 October 2017: Cambodia’s leading boutique hotel group Shinta Mani Hotels has introduced a programme to train and employ local blind people to work as massage therapists in the hotels’ spa. This initiative provides the therapists with an opportunity to earn an income which may not have otherwise been available to them, enabling them to support themselves and their families.

Shinta Mani is renowned for its philanthropy thanks to the tireless efforts of the Shinta Mani Foundation, a not-for-profit NGO which is dedicated to supporting local communities by providing vital services, developing schemes to increase human capital, and equipping them with the tools to overcome the constraints of poverty.

“As part of our CSR program and ongoing commitment to the local community, Shinta Mani Spa is proud to work with blind villagers in the local community, who have undergone an intensive two-month training in our Spa to international standards to become qualified massage therapists”, said Indra Budiman, General Manager.  “When guests select our blind massage treatment, we will donate 50 percent of the proceeds of the treatment to the blind therapist to help them provide for their families.”

The Shinta Mani Spa is a sanctuary of serenity and a haven of refuge where the body is restored to exuberant well-being, good health and wholeness. The use of 100 percent natural products, combined with therapeutic treatments based on traditional and modern healing rituals boost concentration and awareness while reducing stress – helping guests to attain ultimate balance.

Currently there are two male blind therapists who have been trained to do the Signature Oil Massage, a traditional Khmer Massage and a relaxing Foot Massage. Prices for the treatments by the blind therapists are £44++ and £26++ respectively.
